Looking back at the approach
The Short Tree Strip is located on a tight bend in the river, on the approach you must not get low too early because the first spot is misleading, just past the 5 foot tall brush and you will see where to cut the power and dump the flaps into this wide open meadow that has about 700' of usable mostly gravel/sand/tundra surface for your off-airport landing. Just to your left there is a good go around option at all times during the approach at this strip. When taking back off make sure you are looking at the mountain, If you take off towards the tall trees they are going to come up real fast. From the ground you will enjoy a great view of the Alaska mountains.
