Puntilla Lake is a great place to explore some great Alaska history, the lodge was built in 1937 and is still running today. The runway is state owned and is usually an easy place to land, but the winds can come up and make this a very difficult area to fly in. It can be a day trip or the lodge has accommodations as well.
Alaska's Prince William Sound is a majestic place to learn how to fly in the mountains. You can also incorporate into your training beach landings. We are lucky to be in Palmer where we can access so much of the state within just a few hours in an airplane. The training opportunities are endless. With what some would say the greatest views you could have while training.
